Scandinavian Air Ambulance started in 1976. Since then over 70,000 patients have been helped by our staff. Our extensive experience of medical air transport ensures a safe flight for both patients and their family members, but also the best service for our clients.

Scandinavian Air Ambulance meets all requirements as an airline carrier as well as a medical provider. As an airline carrier the company has all the necessary permits from the Aviation Department of the Swedish Transport Agency to operate flying activities and take care of all fleet maintenance. Scandinavian Air Ambulance has its own medically responsible physician and anaesthetics nurses trained in aviation medicine to meet all medical responsibilities.
The company’s fleet comprises five Beech Super King Air B200 and a Learjet 35. The equipment on board has been developed and adapted over the years to better suit medical transportation needs. For example, the medical equipment is constantly developed to meet the patient’s needs.
The crew, which works as a team on board, consists of two pilots and one anaesthetics nurse. Medical competency and medical equipment are of the highest standard.
The company has 25 employees. The majority of transports (approx. 95 percent) are pre-ordered, while the rest are emergency transports.
Scandinavian Air Ambulance was acquired by Scandinavian Air Ambulance in April 2009. As a parent we have Fly Parterner Holdning and with sistercopanies as Scandinavian Air Ambulance and Scandinaivian Medicopter. From 1990 to 2007, Swedish Air Ambulance was called SOS Air Ambulance.
Scandinavian Air Ambulance enjoys close cooperation with its parent and sister organisation in Sweden, particularly in terms of medical competency. This means that the company both contributes to and benefits from the medical knowledge and research present throughout the group.
